We're going to get you an apartment. >> KAREN: So when we met with Access Point and Deana, One of the things we said is that this is where your family used to live. And this is sort of your community. Right so you had asked if we could try to find some housing here. >> MICHEALA: Deana had brought this client forward, and said she needed housing for him. >> DEANA: You were living in the hotel at the time, and they were going to kick you out, right? >> JUNIOR: Yes. >> DEANA: Yeah. So we needed to make a decision quite quickly. >> MICHEALA: When there is available vacancy, there should be a unit. We didn't have a unit. So what happened was I had to find a unit. [intertitle 3: Micheala had three weeks to locate a unit in that area that fit our budget.] >> MICHEALA: During the time that I was finding a unit, there were other things going on. I connected with a newer landlord. And this landlord actually had a place. I told Deana about the place and Deano told Junior. >> JUNIOR: I was hesistant at first, but I decided to try it. >> KAREN: Through working with Access Point and working with Cota at length, We were able to get Junior his own beautiful one-bedroom apartment. >> MICHEALA: I was really excited because I was there and present on the move in date. And I was able to assist with the case managers that were present. Junior was just so happy and that's what rewards me. When you can see one less homeless person on the street, It makes my job feel a lot more - yeah rewarding. >> JUNIOR: I feel really good about getting this apartment now. >> MICHEALA: We don't just move our clients in. We try to make sure it is homey and comfortable. The client has enough furniture. [intertitle 4: Junior learns how to cook and clean from Deana each week.] >> DEANA: On Thursday when I come, we are going to take the chicken out. And we'll stir fry it with this sauce. [music] >> JUNIOR: I'm so happy because of I have things like this. Before, I had nothing. Nothing. Being in a housing program with Cota, I am happy and feel at peace.
