Important Operational Information during COVID-19 Pandemic

Cota continues to follow the Government of Canada Public Health Agency Guidelines to promote best practices with respect to Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Our efforts remain focused on keeping our staff, service users, and community safe from the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. Steps taken to reduce the amount of time people spend in crowded spaces can be effective to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 in a community.

Moving Forward

As such, effective immediately, here are our operational plans moving forward:

Cota’s Head Office and Satellite offices are closed

We have moved to providing only essential services

The rest of our services will be phone-based

Individuals receiving our services will communicate with their Cota worker in case of emergency

We recognize the difficulty this disruption to programs and services can cause, but know that this decision takes into consideration the wellbeing and safety of our entire community. Cota will continue to monitor the rapidly changing situation closely and provide updates here on our website about our operations moving forward.

If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19:

Here are some steps you can take if you have symptoms of COVID-19

(1) Self-Screening Tool

Individuals are asked to use the online assessment tool to determine if they have COVID-19 symptoms. If individuals answer yes to the questions, then they are asked to contact their doctors first for further instructions. 

(2) Call Telehealth Ontario

Registered Nurses at Telehealth Ontario will provide further instructions, for e.g., telling an individual to go to an assessment centre in the city. If you are using a payphone, call 811.

(3) Visit an Assessment Centre

Only visit an assessment centre if you were directed by Telehealth Ontario or your healthcare provider.
